Science informs what we create
Research

Designed with evidence in mind

Odysso is being developed around a simple principle: experiences intended to support wellbeing should be informed by evidence, not vague wellness claims.

A growing body of research suggests that exposure to natural soundscapes may support recovery from stress, improve mood and help restore attention. The quality and composition of those soundscapes matter. Odysso uses authentic recordings from real environments, shaped into evolving, authored journeys rather than static loops or synthetic background noise.

We are in the planning stages of collaborating with Dr Ruth Farrar and Dr Georgina Hughes from Bath Spa University to design and deliver a proof-of-principle study.

This exploratory, early-stage study will assess the feasibility of investigating the effect of Odysso on wellbeing.

The proposed study is currently progressing through the university’s review and approval process. Further details will be shared once the study has received final approval and the research design has been confirmed.

What we measure

Five indicators used to explore the effect of Odysso’s authored sound journeys.

01

Waves icon

Stress

How tense or calm people feel

02

Relaxation

How restored and settled they feel

03

Mood

Changes in positive and negative feeling

04

Heart rate

A physical indicator linked to arousal and calm

05

HRV

A marker of how the body responds to stress

Why this matters

Many nature audio products rely on loops, background ambience or synthetic sound.

Odysso is different.

Each soundscape is designed as an authored journey through a real environment, with depth, movement, detail and emotional progression.

This first study is intended to help establish how Odysso can be evaluated in a structured and credible way.

The aim is not only to create beautiful soundscapes, but to build an evidence base around how our immersive nature sound journeys can support calm, focus, restoration and everyday wellbeing. We will publish information about our research activity, methods and findings as the work develops.
